[Archived in Entry, Intel, Intel]

http://www.sapiensbryan.com [SapiensBryan Blog - The Latest Tech Breaking News Blog.] On AMD website, an Open Letter from Hector Ruiz, AMD Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer is published, giving some brief information about this law suit. The 48-page complaint, which available on AMD website, explains in detail how Intel has unlawfully maintained its monopoly in the x86 microprocessor market by engaging in worldwide coercion of customers from dealing with AMD.

Some related posts from Technorati and Google.

Voice of Reason Voice of Reason: Like Standard Oil at the turn of the Nineteenth Century and Alcoa Aluminum during the Twentieth, Intel holds a monopoly in a market critical to our economy, microprocessors that run the Microsoft Windows and Linux families of operating systems ... Although AMD competes with Intel in this global market, Intel possesses unmistakable and undeniable market power, its microprocessor revenues accounting for approximately 90% of the worldwide total (and 80% of the units). A Stitch in Haste -: Just because one competitor beats another does not mean that there was an antitrust violation or even an antitrust concern. AMD's complaint (PDF - 48 pages) compares Intel's conduct to a "cocaine dealer" that beat computer maker Gateway into "guacamole." That's not a reasoned grievance — (via Cosmos)

Tom Yagerhttp://weblog.infoworld.com/yager  Tom Yager: Intel's intentional, wrongful conduct resulted in the actual disruption of AMD's relationships with these third parties [system manufacturers]. As set forth above, Intel's conduct caused these third parties (i) to cease purchasing microprocessors from AMD, (ii) to limit their purchases of microprocessors from AMD, (iii) to abstain from purchasing microprocessors from AMD in the first instance, (iv) to restrict sales of products containing AMD microprocessors, (v) to abandon planned AMD offerings, (vi) to restrict distribution and marketing of planned AMD offerings, and (vii) to withdraw from participating in AMD product launches and promotions. Whispers of Probing Mind![Whispers of Probing Mind!] AMD sues Intel for monopoly abuse!: Intel dominates global sales of x86 microprocessors with 80% of salesby volume and 90% by revenue, according to AMD. A report on firstquarter 2005 microprocessor sales by independent research firm Mercuryfound Intel had 82% of the PC processor market and AMD had 17%, withVIA and Transmeta mopping up the rest, The Register website reported.

[Blog.tmcnet.com] AMD, Intel Quad Core in Q1: It seems like only yesterday that Intel and AMD announced their dual-core offerings and they're already getting all hot and bothered and releasing quad-core chips in Q1. Intel, not to be outdone, is attempting the same feat in the beginning/middle of 2006.

Theappleblog.comhttp://www.theappleblog.com [Theappleblog.com] The Apple Blog » Apple and Intel, ”˜Official’: And again, I covered that in last weeks post, including the strange situation that would occur if Apple decided to go the Intel route of the HyperTransport bus (an AMD technology, already in use on the G5-based Macs). There’s also the potential problem that Intels 64-bit chips are nowhere near as well received as either the G5 or AMD CPUs, which could mean a potential backwards step at a time when Apple are pushing 64-bit like crazy.
