AMD Tops Intel in U.S. Retail Sales

AMD outsells Intel for the month of September. Why? MCE PC's.
[HD Beat] Hmmm while Intel is coming out in support of HD-DVD, AMD hasn't said anything of note about HDTV. Of course, their partnership with NVIDIA and their nForce 400 chipset is a large part of enabling their integration into Media Center PC's so we'll see how far that takes this recent surge.

Apple, Another Reason To Pick Intel
[ Joseph Scotts Blog] If you were making a sales pitch to Intel you better not be using a notebook from that other vendor (Apple) running that other OS (Mac OS) on that other CPU (PPC). Even though Intel itself doesn’t make notebook systems or the OS that goes on top of them, no one wanted to be seen as helping the competition by buying from vendors that didn’t use their product.

Microsoft shows off IPTV plans, partners
[HD Beat] A system-on-a-chip developed with Sigma Designs specifically intended to support all IPTV edition features and lower cost so that it can be included in set top boxes, TV's, DVD players and gaming consoles.I don't think this nearly answers the question of where the Media Center Edition platform's future lies, but Microsoft is clearly doing everything they can to make sure they have their devices at the heart of your digital entertainment center of the future.

Intel and nanotech?
[Tech news and insider stories for the IT industry - the i-kew blog] Intel is going to do 65 nanometre processors, It's pretty darned important for Intel that Moore's Law continues to operate, or we stop buying new PCs. And so it's worth looking at some of its gee-whiz predictions, sometimes, and asking: "Who benefits from this?"
