Intel, Trusted Computing, and Slashdot

[Archived in Entry]

[the institute of hybernautics | elite websurfing clan since 1993] The Trusted Computing Group has all of the documentation on Trusted Network Conect on their front page. What it does is "quarantine" your computer unless it's Trusted and running an approved OS and an approved and mandated firewall, and any other software they want to mandate. At that point you and I have no choice but to submit to Trusted Computing - that or we are denied internet access.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[E-Bitz - SBS MVP the Official Blog of the SBS "Diva"] So what's YOUR excuse?: That's why you should upgrade to Windows 2003/SBS 2003 and Windows XP sp2.  Because truly both platforms are a win for the Security guys.  And soon for us, our own service pack, SBSers SP1.  I've literally seen the Data Execute Projection mechanism where a potential buffer overrun is flagged [in my case it was a major update to the Trend virus engine that needed to be 'approved' as a DEP exception], I've seen the impact of the firewall as the system is built.  The changes in XP sp2, in Windows 2003 sp1, the beginning of the band wagon for LUA for Longhorn.

[Former 'Who shell we trust'] What is trusted computing? Shortly it is a multi-...: What is trustedcomputing? Shortly it is a multi-company alliance created in a effort to improve computer-security, protect users from hackers and viruses, spread of pirate software and media... components are in approved combination then it gives the control over to TCPA enabled operating system
