Intel "Upgrade" for Powermac Cube available
[Archived in Entry]
[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] Called the The PCube 1.5 and PCube 1.8, the upgrades are priced at $400 and $450 respectively. According to the company, this upgrade is "aimed at PC users who may be wooed by the stylish G4 Cube and thus consumed with a desire to dump their beige PC box." Before you get excited by the idea of a cheap developer box, understand that it is very unlikely that this upgrade will be able to boot into Mac OS X, as Apple has said only forthcoming Intel-based Macs will be able to perform this feat.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[Tuaw.com] The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW): So what you ask? Well, Rick Schaut of the MacBU (Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit) has an interesting blog post about how Office for the Mac is going to support these new formats too. Apparently this is the first major new enhancement for Office that is going to be launched at the same time across platforms.
[Engadget.com] Engadget - www.engadget.com: According to research firm Current Analysis, sales of laptops accounted for 53 percent of the total PC market last month, up from 46 percent a year earlier. Oh yeah, there’s only one problem: this is almost exactly the same news that was reported in May of 2003, when the New York Times (among others) wrote about how for the first time, “Laptops accounted for more than 54 percent of the nearly $500 million in [US] retail computer sales.”
